Sandy Angus is Chairman of Montgomery Worldwide and has worked in the exhibition industry since the late 1960s, joining the South African operation in 1968 and the London office in 1970. His subsequent career has embraced all areas of exhibitions including international show organising, contracting, venue management, marketing and senior general management.

As CEO of ‘Interbuild’ (The International Building Exhibition) in the 1970s he transferred this major show to Britain’s new National Exhibition Centre where it became recognised as a world-class event and one of the best-presented and best known trade shows in Europe. Throughout the 1970s he expanded Montgomery’s interests in Scotland and actively introduced innovative marketing and sales training techniques into the growing portfolio of modern exhibitions, setting new standards of show management for the benefit of visitors and exhibitors.

For many years he has been at the forefront of the UK’s exhibition industry, as Chairman of the Association of Exhibition Organisers from 1985-87 and as Founder and Deputy Chairman of the Exhibition Industry Federation representing contractors, hall-owners and organisers from 1986-88. Internationally, he was elected President of the Union of International Fairs (UFI) 2001-03 and became the first non-American Chairman of the US International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) in 2005-6. His network of connections throughout the contemporary world of exhibitions, event organising, show venues and host cities is probably unequalled.

Sandy undertakes strategic consultancy and has provided advice to UN and EU agencies. He is in demand as a speaker at industry conventions and seminars. He is an active director of Exhibition Consultants Ltd and all the Montgomery operating companies. He is also a trustee of charitable companies linked to the exhibition industry and takes an interest in Third World development issues.

Montgomery Worldwide retains the independent values of a family business traced from its origins in 1895. Our reputation for openness and integrity means that we are respected by our industry. The Montgomery family remained involved in the business until 2008 and Bryan Montgomery, as former Chairman, served as President of UFI (the Union of International Fairs) and Chairman of the AEO. His successor Sandy Angus, the current Chairman of Montgomery Worldwide, has also held these positions as well as President of the IAEE.
